A new release to ensure compatibility with Apple’s recent update to Snow Leopard and Mail (currently only for developers). This version updates the compatibility with the latest system version and fixes a couple of small bugs in the account handling for the preferences. SignatureProfiler on Mac Geek Gab!

So I got an email today from Dave Hamilton of The Mac Observer’s Mac Geek Gab podcast telling me that they talked about SignatureProfiler on the podcast. So I thought, “this is great” and decided to listen and see what they say – it’s always good to get feedback.

They particularly mention the aspect of using multiple email addresses within a single account. This is one of the best features of SignatureProfiler, even though the UI needs some work in terms of how to set that up.

Extracting Existing Signatures

A few weeks ago (in late November) a user sent me a script that looks like it might be useful for others, so I thought I would post it up here.

What it does is go through you current Mail signatures and extracts the text from each of these into a text file that you could potentially use, with a bit of cleaning up, as a quote file which you can then import into SignatureProfiler.

SignatureProfiler 1.5.3 released for Mail 4.2

This version only updates the compatibility with Snow Leopard, but is required for those who want to (or already have) upgraded.

Problem with Exchange Accounts

SignatureProfiler is apparently not compatible with Exchange Accounts in Mail. This means that if you have an Exchange Account, you should not use SignatureProfiler at all!

I’ve had a couple of reports indicating that if SignatureProfiler is installed and an Exchange Account is active, it will have problems syncing data and moving messages.

Unfortunately I have no time to fix this right now, so the short term solution is to not use SignatureProfiler if you have an Exchange Account. Or don’t use you Exchange Account, but that seems less likely :-p.

It will eventually be fixed, but I cannot yet say when.

Snow Leopard Support Arrives with 1.5.2!

I know that many of you have been waiting for Snow Leopard compatibility, as I have been myself. It is here!
There are no new features in this release, but it does run on both Leopard and Snow Leopard. I have stopped supporting Tiger, though I didn’t even check to see if this runs on Tiger – it may or may not.

Snow Leopard and SignatureProfiler

Many of you have written to let me know that the plugin no longer works with Snow Leopard. This is definately the case – there are several things that have changed with the newest version of Mail and these have affected SignatureProfiler’s ability to load properly. You hav, of course, asked about an update to support Snow Leopard. I am looking into providing a quick fix to get it working on the new version, but I cannot give you any specific date yet. I will post a new message on the blog and the SignatureProfiler homepage when the update is available. Please check back regularly.

SignatureProfiler 1.4.10 Released

A new release for the new year and probably the last release of this plugin, at least in its current form. I have been toying with the idea of making it a more integrated and easier plugin to use, but it would need to be a paid for product. I’d love to hear any feedback about that.
In any case, this version fixes a problem that would sometimes create a double signature in the message, only one of which would be updated. The other addition is to support whitespace (spaces, tabs and newlines) better in the random quote file and from scripts.

SignatureProfiler 1.4.8 Released

A new bug fix release already. This addresses a problem with the aliases from .Mac not being recognized. I’m very surprised that this hadn’t been noticed before. In any case, now you should see all of the aliases from .Mac listed for the account. It will use any name associated with the alias by default, though at this point it will not update .Mac if you change the display name inside the SignatureProfiler preferences.
